Menton
5-9 February 2007
Menton served as place to park the motor home for 4 nights; close enough to Monaco and Roquebrune to have easy access to Marie-Claire‘s niece and to Monaco.
But Menton has some features that warrant a visit. A medieveal old town clinging to the mountainside
and leading down to the port,
a Cathedral
shopping streets that cater to pedestrians,
and streets full of orange, lemon and grapefruit trees.
Menton was liberated by Canadian and American troops on 8 September 1944.
Each February, Menton celebrates the cultivation of lemons with a two week festival that draws large crowds. While we would love to have stayed for it, 4 nights living on the side of a street was long enough and we left for Nice.
