Sand Dunes - Post 2

The dunes can be very large and very peaceful if you are away from the ATVs. The next shots show dunes 2-3 km inland from the ocean. Often they are developed enough that they contain lakes, like these at Florence, Oregon.

It seems odd to think of sand dunes exhibiting such lush foliage. Apart from the misty rain in Cannon Beach we have had incredible summer-like weather during the day although the mornings have been cold as seen in this early morning beakfast.

By 10 each morning we have to remind ourselves that we are in a weather pattern similar to that of southern BC and that rain is common by October. The rain and the sandy loam create great growing conditions that can result in houses being taken over and reverting to the forest like this example in Otter Rock.
